Aspire

Our Five Imprints

Why did we choose the term "imprint"?

Imprint can refer to any kind of impression or influence. To fix an event or experience firmly in the memory that it cannot be forgotton.

The reason we choose this term to convay what we focus on in our Aspire service, is because we want your young person's experiences in Aspire to create a lasting difference in their lives. To have a positive experience that they will remember and will help them in their next steps and into their future.

Our five imprints (MWALE) are detailed below, sharing the focus areas of your young person's life that we aim to support and develop whilst in our Aspire service.

  • Our three main outcomes:

    • To feel safe
    • To feel supported
    • To feel heard

Throughout your young person's time in our Aspire service we will support their mental health by building their self esteem and confidence, whilst helping them express their thoughts and feelings, learn ways to manage self regulation, low mood and anxiety. We will support them to recognise and work through their emotions, embrace who they are and feel empowered as a neurodivergent young person.

  • Our three main outcomes:

    • To feel confident, healthy and happy
    • To be engaged in activities within our community
    • To build positive relationships with likeminded peers

Alongside mental health, supporting young people's wellbeing is absolutely vital to being able to help them find a way forward to engage in other aspects of their lives. We provide a wide range of wellbeing activities to help young people navigate life and feel safe, secure and happy. This includes our animal therpay sessions, support around friendships and relationships, healthy routines, fun outings and our annual residential trip.

  • Our three main outcomes:

    • To have access to different learning opportunities
    • To have a say in what they want to learn
    • To be able to try new things without pressure

Not everyone learns in the same way or thrives in a curriculum based environment. We recognise that young people need access to a range of different learning opportunities with more flexibility to accommodate autonomy in what and how they learn.

  • Our three main outcomes:

    • To build independence
    • To learn skills that will help them navigate life and the world around them
    • To feel more confident and prepared for their next steps

Life skills can be tricky to navigate, especially as a teenager. Supporting day to day skills such as communication, problem solving, finances, self care, cooking and public transport helps young people prepare for the transition to adulthood. By supporting life skills and independence in Aspire, we are helping young people learn at their own pace in a safe environment with others who have struggled with the same challenges.

  • Our three main outcomes:

    • To have access to education that supports their needs
    • To feel listened to about their education
    • To feel supported to reach their goals & recognise their achievements

Although Aspire is not an educational provision, our specialised tutoring provides young people support with their Maths and English core subjects. We also offer support for families to give young people a say in their education and what supports they need in school to be able to meet their needs. We can attend CPM's (child planning meetings) with the school to voice young people's views and support parents to exercise their young people's rights. We can also signpost families to other services that can assist with any school difficulties.
